Two
lighthouses better than one:
The Grand Haven Harbor has not one, but two lighthouses
at its harbor entrance on Lake Michigan. One lighthouse,
guarding the harbor entrance, was built originally
in 1839 but replaced in 1922. The front of the lighthouse
looks like a bow of a ship to break the waves coming
off the lake. The second lighthouse, in the traditional
shape, went into operation in 1905. Both are painted
red.
